more MELVINS... Colossus of Destiny

"Recorded live Friday, December 13, 1998 at Club Mangler, Cupertino, California. It is nearly an hour of synthesizer and sample experimentation ending in a performance of the song "Eye Flys". It was reported that members of the audience were lying on the ground, covering their ears during this performance. The album was originally intended to be the third part of the band's 1999 album trilogy (The Maggot, The Bootlicker and The Crybaby) until the band came up with the guest star idea on The Crybaby.

The name of the album is taken from the John Fante book The Road to Los Angeles, in which the main character, Arturo Bandini, writes a book bearing the name Colossus of Destiny. "

A BLOG WITH A PURPOSE!!! MUSIC!!!!!!!

OK, so this page has never been anything more than shits and giggles (few and far between honestly) for me and like 3 other people. But I want to change that and make this a music resource page... at least to some extent... a resource for music I like... and maybe you too.

So with that said I will have links to all things music - YouTube videos, articles, interviews, and as most people are looking for, actual music. However the links I'm going post (at least for now), for all music downloads, will only be active for like a week. I want to give it to you, but I also want you to buy it from the bands (or record labels).

Check back daily! And any requests are welcome!

Jeff

Ustad Wahid Khansahab

Ustad Wahid Khansahab appeared in this award-winning Bengali film as an playback artist as well as an actor (old court musician at a Zamindar's court), and the music of the film was composed by his nephew Ustad Vilayat Khan. This film has won the 1958 best music award in an international film festival. Both Ustad Vilayat Khan and his brother Ustad Imrat Khan received taalim from Ustad Wahid Khansahab after their father Ustad Enayat Khansahab passed away (Vilayat Khansahab was only 9 years when his father passed away). Incidentally Ustad Wahid Khansahab was court musician in several princely-states. He was succeeded by his son Ustad Hafeez Khan and Ustad Aziz Khan. Ustad Aziz Khan is the father and Guru of Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan.
